On one hand it seems like yesterday that we pulled that Discovery into the drive in pouring rain, made a run for the porch and waited out the storm, on the other hand it seems like a lifetime ago. When we got here we literally hit the ground running, so much that we both burned out with all the fix it stuff we needed to do to reclaim this house. The house is looking great, the hardwood floor has yet to be done but it can wait. We are taking a break.
We had a nice quiet Thanksgiving day at home, just the two of us. I took a couple of pies to our church for their community dinner. Other than that it was a much appreciated day with our little meal and football on the tube. Yes, it was a very good day.
For various reasons the holidays are stressful for many. We learned a few years back to embrace the holidays, keeping our expectations under control so we would not stress out. Because Dan's relatives are many miles away and my immediate family is gone we tend to have quiet holidays this time of the year, just the two of us and our sweet furkid, KD.
My last blog entry was too long ago.....I really want to post more often....but I think folks would not be real excited to see that I got up, had my cappuccino, got dressed, walked my pet, then did house stuff. How exciting is that? Anyway, a couple of things have taken place since that last post that has long since fallen into the archives somewhere. First, we found our sweet Whitney a new and wonderful home. His new Mom is absolutley in love with him as are her grandkids. He is thriving, has a large fenced back yard to run and play in and I hear he is puttng it to good use. When we adopted him I thought it would be fun for KD to have company. Well, little did I know, KD never adapted to him, would not accept his being part of the family and I felt in all fairness he should be in a one dog family. He is a happy little boy now and I'm happy...yes I miss him but it was the right decision.
The other major thing that has happened is that I completed my training with Weight Watchers. I'm good to go as a leader and have had training as a receptionist and weigher. I do not yet have a class but am on the roster as a sub and for now I like that, in fact I prefer that for now. I'm presently going through test for a back problem, have been given instructions to stay off my feet. The doc doesn't want me aggrevating the problem. I have an MRI Friday and the outcome of that will determine if I need spinal injections to relieve the pain. I've also been having weird things going on with the heart and I'm scheduled for a stress test next Monday. You know I'm in for some fun.
That brings me to now. Christmas is here, people are busy getting ready for the big day, Jesus' birthday. Dan refuses to go into any stores because he doesn't want to hear someone say "Happy Holiday". That would certainly light a fuse with him. We both are adamant about saying "Merry Christmas". Christ birth is the reason we call it Christmas....the reason for the season. I know everyone has their way of celebrating and they have that right, but let's not forget that Baby born 2000 years ago.......the Baby who changed everything.
Merry Christmas....may God bless and keep you and yours.

Nice post. We are with you; the "Happy Holiday" nonsense really bothers us.
Karon, I love reading your blog, even when you tell us you had a cappuccino or whatever! I'm so interested in everything you do, so keep it up!
Sounds like you're in for some fun medical stuff. I hope everything turns out OK.
Keep saying, "Merry Christmas" to one and all! Love ya! Peggy
Merry Christmas, Karon & Dan. We live in Mississippi and I have noticed that this year, the politically correct phrase is Merry Christmas. I like that and it is a huge change from the Happy Holidays that was used everywhere last year.
I hope all of your tests go well.

Karon....I join the others in enjoying your posts (& I've never met you except on-line...smile!!) I also join you & the others in regard to the reason for the season & enjoying the opportunity to share the JOY of Jesus' birth and what that means in my daily life. This will be our first Christmas without either of our kids but we are blessed to know they are at peace and free from pain celebrating the season with the One who gives them Life with a capital L!! We WILL see them again and what a Christmas THAT will be!! Keep writing and we will all keep reading with grateful hearts!! MERRY CHRISTMAS

Merry Christmas Karon and Dan!
Love to read your blog when you write something - I too find that the blog doesn't go nearly as well when I'm sitting in one place and not 'on the road'.
Love and peace this Christmas Season - from our rolling home to yours :)
