Looking Forward

The work on the house is moving along. The interior is almost where we want it and refinishing the hardwood floor is the last thing on the list. That was an issue Dan and I didn't agree on..I wanted the floors done before we put all the stuff on them, Dan wanted it to be last. He is the one who will be doing all that work so who am I to argue the point. His work is meticulous so I know in the end it will be nice. Living in and keeping up a house is much like RVing..it's really a journey, it's not about the destination. We learned that early on in our RVing, we loved the travel days, the preparation, the anticipation of the journey. So, we too, are loving the journey of caring for this place we call home.

The painting on the inside of the house is just about done. Dan is moving through the house today touching up paint where needed. I've been sewing stuff for the house, something I've never done but I'm very happy with the way things turned out.

This is a dust ruffle or bed skirt I made from curtains. Now I need to make or find a comforter that works with this color.

Curtains for the Red Hot dining room. Dan is planning to make a white wooden curtain rod so I can use the tabs that are hidden in the picture.

The comforter is reversible from the yellow and rose to a very dark green. Then I made pillow covers to match.

With all this remodel stuff, I've also started training with Weight Watchers. I earned my lifetime membership back in the early 80's, that was one of the best things I ever did, it was a real feeling of accomplishment. I have learned that just because one earns the lifetime status with Weight Watchers there are no guarantees that one keeps the weight off. It, too, is a journey. It is about a lifetime commitment, a lifestyle change, it's about doing mental work. Weight issues are never about the food, it's all about trying to feed a void in ones life. The big deal is to figure out what that void is and work on that. Then with the right attitude and the proper eating program the weight is brought under control. This is where I find myself in this journey. I've done the mental work this time, something I didn't do before, I have lost the weight, I am so grateful to Weight Watchers and one dear friend who helped me find my way back, she continues to set a standard, a great example of success. I am training to be a leader, in hopes that I can inspire others the way my friend has inspired me.

I'm looking forward, feeling real excitement, anticipation and joy. Life is very good!

WoooHooo!! Your projects look beautiful, the house is really coming together. We'll be watching for the next post about the floors....

I love your wisdom about this weight loss/maintenance journey. I keep telling you that you are going to make a dynamite leader! You can be sure I will be in your meeting when we come through there next!

Karon - sure sounds like life is going quite well for you. I envy you two things: I never got into sewing. You do beautiful work. ALso, the weight loss. Gosh I wish I could just really get with the program!

Good for you!

Like the others I'm impressed with your abilities and 'journey' through life. I SO appreciate your blogging so that we can all join in your experiences and gain from them as well.

I wish, too, I had the commitment to weight loss....or rather living a healthy lifestyle. My WW leader and friend in Michigan is EXCELLENT and, like you, has grown through the process learning so much about herself and in the process taking care of herself. Maybe someday it will 'click' for me in the same way.

Keep living the life, enjoying the journey and sharing it. Love it!!

Cool, if I had money I have Candice Olsen from Devine Design to hook me up. She has some talent. Keep up the good work
