Idle/Busy Days Of Summer!!!

Being busy or idle, it's a choice and one I enjoy being able to make. We left Amarillo where we spent time with Ellie and Jim and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We had a small window of time between obligations in the Temple area and we took advantage of that time. It was a wonderful break.

On our way back to Temple we stayed a couple of days in the Whitney area at another COE park, Lofers Bend West. We liked the park, although the sites were a tad unlevel. We started out on a 50 amp site located just feet from the water, with no shade and the heat index was over 100. After a couple of days of the AC's running non stop we moved into the trees and took a 30 amp site. We put the frig and the water heater on propane, then we can run both AC's on 30 amp. We don't leave the water heater on propane continuously, just as needed. We enjoyed our stay at Whitney, even took a drive around the lake checking out other parks for future reference.

We moved along to Cedar Ridge. We have stayed in this park many times, it is one of our favorite parks anywhere. We had a reservation but when we arrived I asked if we might move to a first come, first serve site. The gate attendant was kind enough to let us do that. We are back on 50 amp service. We are still in search of shade so we are waiting on another first come, first serve site with shade to come available and we will move to that one.

We are getting stuff done while we are here, that was the plan after all. We have lined up an RV tech to work on the motor home, nothing real big, just stuff that is a pain if not working right. I have an appointment to have the car serviced.

While we were at Whitney I brought our sweet KD to see her vet. When we first came back from Colorado I took KD in for her check up. There was a bump on her back and one on her lower eyelid the doc said to keep an eye on them. And, the vet wanted to see her again. So, this trip was the follow up. That day the vet scheduled surgery. That surgery has been done, the vet removed four tumors off KD's back and the one off the lower eyelid. The back incisions are healing nicely. KD came home with a big collar to wear to keep her from pawing at her face. I've been taking the collar off to take her out and to allow her to eat. While not wearing that collar she has pawed at her face and as of this morning has an abrasion on her cornea, she is now wearing the collar fulltime and has a new medicine for her eye. I feel absolutely awful, I feel like it's my doing or undoing that she is in this fix. Dan kept telling me she needed to keep the collar on and I didn't listen. The doc says the cornea should heal but to KEEP the collar on. I'm listening this time. I can handle lots of stuff, but, when it comes to KD, it's another story. Pets depend on their owners for their care and I am at my witts end when KD is in trouble. I am responsible for her upkeep, like I said, I'm listening now....I just pray it's not too late.

As I write this, KD is standing beside me. I'll go now and simply hold her.....not so much for her, but for me.

This picture was made while riding to the bottom of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison, near Montrose, Colorado.

Idle, maybe not so much, I'm happy to be busy taking care of my furbaby.

So sorry to hear about lovely KD's troubles, but she is in good health really, so that is good.
We love our furbabies and want to hold them close, as long as we can.

You have found some lovely places to stay, and it is great that you saw Ellie and Jim again.

Glad to hear KD is doing great. Don't you just hate it when they have to go through stuff like that.

I am so happy you got to spend some time with Ellie and Jim. We miss them alot.

Stay cool in Texas!

Maybe our paths can cross when we get back to Texas.
